Whatever else I may say about my place of employment, they sent me a thank you card and a box of schwag for being so good natured about dealing with the cow guy. So as a reward for doing the most proofs (aka reincarnations of a design) ever, I got a stainless steel cup, a reusable bag, a really nice journal, some pens and mints.

For as much as I complain, they are good people and I may continue to freelance with them after I find steadier employment.

PS- I have an interview on Thursday. Will try not to let hubris affect the outcome.

So I had a job interview today. It would've been an okay job, but really production heavy and not creative at all.

So I guess it's fair that after I showed him my portfolio (that he was blown away by) he said, and I quote: "...This is really awkward. The guy who was here right before you just came off a production job so he's more of what we need right now. But you present yourself great and the interview was good! You'll have no trouble finding a job."

...Except for that reason you turned me down for, huh.

OH WELL. THERE WILL BE A BRIGHT TOMORROW. And I may hobnob with designers tonight. Depends on how I feel.

That is all.

Okay, a few people have been asking, re: my meeting today.

A little background for those just tuning in: I got a call on Friday from a creative staffing firm (after I had applied for a job) sounding very excited about my work! And wanting to try to place me right away! So I had an informational today with him. In bullet points!

-He loooooves my work
-He does not normally offer to place junior/entry level positions, so I'm special.
-He made a point to stress that I was one of maybe ten people he calls to interview, out of the 100+ who apply each week.
-He was really impressed with my presentation.

-The place that has an immediate opening doesn't want me as I have no experience.
-However, they didn't slam the door.
-So he is going to try to get me in with at least an informational, if not a lower hourly rate than he normally would push. 10% DISCOUNT ON THE NEWLY GRADUATED. That's. Honestly what it is.

But I'm energized. Even if it doesn't happen immediately, he seemed very intent in making this work. I have a person to network with! I have someone representing me in the field! And he's a nice guy!

Overall I feel accomplished. And damn I looked nice.

I just did my first job on my freelance contract job. It took me over three hours, but I did it and it's submitted \o/

It took so long because I'm exhausted and at nine, when he finished going through everything he was like "whelp, there's a job up that no one else is going to do. Good luck!" So, I fumbled my way through it, but managed it in the end! Hopefully I won't have to do like a billion revisions, but whatevs.

Physically exhausted. I think my less-than-full-night's sleep has been getting to me, plus lugging my stuff around Victoria and the TWO (not one, but TWO) human pyramids mean my muscles are going "nnnnghhhhhh".

Still feeling sick every day. Should really work on that.

Overall, doing fairly well /o/

I have to post this somewhere or I will just show everyone I know and keep going on and on about it and everyone will be sick of me.
